Growing Spaces Growing Domes® have seven unique features that make them a stronger, more reliable, and energy-efficient greenhouse option.
The Geodesic Dome Shape is Naturally Wind-Resistant & Strong
While the geodesic shape of the Growing Dome is beautiful, its real beauty lies in its strength. The triangle shapes forming the Growing Dome greenhouse create a sturdy, geometric pattern, not replicated in a simple rectangular shape.
High-Quality Polycarbonate Glazing Panels
Our greenhouse design features high-quality, USA-sourced polycarbonate glazing panels for a rigid, translucent covering that allows for 65% light transmission—diffused light your plants will love.
The 16mm, multi-wall polycarbonate glazing that covers our geodesic greenhouses has a 2.8 R-value. Polycarbonate is one of the premier solar greenhouse coverings available.
Natural Climate Control Via An Above-Ground Pond
This extraordinary Growing Dome greenhouse design feature, a large above-ground pond, acts as thermal mass to help regulate the temperature within the dome. Our geodesic greenhouse kits are the only kits available that include this special feature.
North Wall Insulation to Maximize Efficiency
The north wall insulation (also called “Reflectix”) helps keep the Growing Dome greenhouse cozy during the long winter nights and reflects light evenly onto the plants during the day for maximum growth.
Greenhouse designs that include north wall insulation provide shade in the summer and, in combination with the above-ground pond, prevent overheating.
Worry-Free Temperature Control Protects Your Garden When You’re Away
Custom, automatic vent openers are heat-activated and require no electricity to operate. Growing Spaces’ greenhouse designs include upper and lower vents that open and close at an adjustable preset temperature due to the expansion and contraction of beeswax in a piston and/or thermostatically controlled fans for ventilation.
The Undersoil System for a Healthier Growing Environment
In the undersoil system, a fan blows the air from around the above-ground pond, inside the greenhouse through pipe(s) buried in the perimeter raised garden beds.
The air at the intake is warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer compared to outside ambient temperatures, so you are effectively moving that air through your soil from the north side and exhausting it in the southern area of the greenhouse.
Additional Temperature Stabilization Provided By the Foundation Wall
The geodesic Growing Dome greenhouse sits on a 24″ insulated, all-weather wood foundation wall, which raises the geodome greenhouse up above the snow and gives increased headroom.
